Florida palmetto swamps, pine flatwoods, oak hammocks, cypress swamps. Central/South Florida only.
Early morning during the first 2 hours after fly-down. Late morning can be productive as hens leave gobblers. Midday hunting works during peak breeding.
Run and gun calling, setting up on roosted birds, and ambush hunting near feeding areas. Use decoys strategically. Learn yelps, clucks, and purrs.
NWTF Grand Slam species. Smallest US subspecies. Toms 16-20 lbs with iridescent green/purple feathers.
